“Overall, I am very pleased with our trip to Italy. I enjoyed visiting all of the attractions and found them very interesting. I have learned a lot about Italian culture. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to visit important places such as the museum of Capodimonte, Piazza Plebiscito, Castello di Baia or Parco di Cuma. Moreover, this visit enabled me to befriend many fantastic people from different countries and make unforgettable memories. Me and my Italian host as well as the Danish guest student got along very well. My host family was kind, hospitable and helpful. I’m certain that the whole visit helped me improve my English communication skills. It was a wonderful experience.” Julia

“Staying in a foreign country whose language you do not know definitely requires more frequent use of English than in everyday life, which influences the advancement of practical skills. It is certainly a development of a different sphere of language than in the case of school education. Another topic taken up while visiting interesting museums and monuments allowed us to learn new vocabulary. The need to use the English language in everyday situations (shopping in the store, buying souvenirs, asking for directions) definitely permitted us to test our previously acquired basic everyday skills practically. The visited places, in addition to giving the opportunity to learn new vocabulary, also showed the centuries-old history hidden in this country. We had the opportunity to see an old, flooded city, a medieval castle and relatively new buildings and structures. We walked through many diametrically different streets, which gave us a bigger picture of the city that is Naples. Our knowledge of culture has also been expanded, mainly by observing the behaviour of residents and host families. We had the opportunity to learn about some customs, for example the one that assumes that females graduating from university show it by wearing a special green wreath. During our together walks, we were able to get to know each other better with our peers. Numerous moments of free time helped us to establish contacts conducted with learning about history, art and culture shown by qualified (and definitely interestingly narrating) guides. In the case of host families, we had the opportunity to learn some Italian words and phrases, as Italian was spoken frequently by family members in the homes. However, when there was a need to communicate with the parents or siblings of the host, there were no problems with translating the information given by us in English into Italian by our hosts. While staying with our peers, we also had the opportunity to learn some basic expressions in Greek, Spanish and Danish. They were also asking us about basic phrases in Polish, so the exchange of interesting terms was two-sided.” Izabella and Aleksandra

“The stay in Naples definitely allowed us to put the knowledge we gained at school into practice. It enabled us to communicate fluently with other students from different European countries.  We visited museums, castles and a flooded city which gave us an idea about the history of this city and its surroundings. Walking around Naples told us a lot about the people and their culture. I evaluate the contact with students very positively. Everyone was open and positive towards foreigners. Every day, the Italian participants prepared surprises for us - from meals in an Italian style to night integration trips. They filled the whole day with various kinds of meetings so that we wouldn't get bored. The students from other countries - Denmark, Spain and Greece - also integrated fruitfully into the group. During breaks in the day, they invited us to play cards, tell jokes and chat. They taught us basic phrases in their native languages, which we could later practice with them. Frequent walks around the city were accompanied by small "chants". The atmosphere in the group had an incredible impact on the whole trip and international interaction.” Oskar
