Activities during the visit

The project participants were actively involved in learning to use DUST AIR device - personal air controller, designed and developed by scientists from Central Mining Institute (Główny Instytyt Górnctwa) in Katowice, Poland (https://dustair.gig.eu/en/home-page-2/). The workshops were run by Karol Magiera and Filip Wasilewski from GIG.

The dust meter is a small device that measures in real time and informs the user about the air quality in a given place, and at the right moment alerts about the need for preventive measures. The application gives a full picture of the pollutants that the user was exposed to throughout the day, by measuring and indicating the following parameters: PM1 PM2.5 PM10, air temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity. Based on this data, the IAQ indicator is determined.

During the workshops, the students did the following task:

Based on what you have learnt about the countries participating in the “Impossible Becomes Possible” project so far, prepare a presentation related to the SMOG issue answering the following questions: What are the causes of SMOG? What is done to prevent it?

Use the ideas from the lecture in Warsaw University of Technology and Power Point presentations which can be found in: C1 VISIT IN POLAND Impossible folder as well as the information you have been given since the beginning of the meeting in Poland.

Name of Folder: C1 VISIT IN POLAND Impossible – TASKS - TASK 2 SMOG IMPACT AND POLICY or TASK 3 SMOG ALERT

During the workshops, the students were involved in doing the following task:

Design a PDF version of a leaflet, flyer or poster (size A4, A5 or A6) helping to raise people’s awareness of the SMOG issue. The products will help you run an informative campaign locally.

Workshops for teachers aimed at dealing with the following matters: follow-up activities, dissemination, evaluation, planning the next steps.

The visit to the Warsaw Rising Museum was a real cultural experience. It was opened on the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of fighting in Warsaw. The Museum is a tribute of Warsaw’s residents to those who fought and died for independent Poland and its free capital.
